Gindi TLV Fashion Week – the second Tel Aviv Fashion Week of this season – happens from December 16 to December 19.
We all know the strange story that befell Tel Aviv, erupting into two fashion weeks instead of one.
In any case, Gindi TLV Fashion Week, taking place in the Gindi Tel Aviv complex, has many of the veteran designers showcasing their latest collections, including Dodo Bar Or, Gideon Oberson, and Dorit Frankfurt.
Still, perhaps the best preview of Gindi TLV Fashion Week is not the upcoming designers — but the emergence of Israel’s unique street style. The fashion dujour came to celebrate the launch of Gindi TLV Fashion Week with a toast at Cantina on Rothschild Blvd.
Let’s see what they wore:
Freelance Photographer and Music Video Director Tamar Karavan wears a gorgeous red print vintage dress from Berlin.
Dodo Bar Or, a good friend of Gindi TLV producer Motti Reif, is showcasing at Gindi TLV Fashion week. Will it be Middle Eastern infused like the last one? She’s also uber-stylish in bold blue. Dodo wears a blue wrap and wide leg trousers which is said to be her own total lo
Nothing says good ol’ Israeli fashion like a structured black blazer over a delicate floral dress. Shira Barzilay works it well. She could do without the hat, but the rest of the outfit is superb, including the necklace.
I’m not sure who this girl is but what I do know is that I love her graphic jacket and the black frames(whether they are hers or just a cool accessory) make the entire outfit pop.
I’m digging the top part of her outfit because I like the urban look, but the dark denim look is so mainstream. Not what I expected at a party with the style set, but hey, it IS Tel Aviv so its common here (and it DOES look good on her.) Shiraz Tal can really wear a potato sack and she’d look gorgeous doing it.
I do like the animal print heels on Shaily Schindler, but the rest of the outfit is sort of been there, done that for the television show host. I am a fan of her hair and the long necklaces, but would have loved to see the cropped jacket in a different color (can you tell I”m not a fan of brown?) Still, she looks like she’s going to a fashion party!
Fashion designer Lee Grebenau, owner of the Lee Grebenau clothing line of dresses, gowns, and bridal, wears her own pieces in a look I personally love…a white collared shirt under a sequined top with black shorts, tights, and boots, so as not to take away from the top half.
Eyes immediately went straight to Dana’s bold red lip, which punctuated her petite features including the graphic bangs but I also loved the sweet Maison Martin Margiela textured sweater (she got it from the Israeli shop Verner) underneath a tough Mango leather jacket. Boots are from Acne and bracelets from Juicy Couture and Noritamy.
Shai Kahane, who won The Amazing Race in Israel, is definitely in the Best Dressed category for menswear. Although some would argue matching the silver shoes to the silver vest is a big no-no, I beg to differ.
The dress worn by actress Yael Reich is beautiful, but we’re not sure it hits her in all the right places. Or maybe she’s just making a strange pose. Anyway, it’s Dodo Bar Or’s brand Pas Pour Toi.
Though I’m not liking the ugly brown tote, this is one of the better styled outfits of the evening or perhaps the best example of urban Israeli style and looking “dressed up” by Israeli standards, but still keeping it comfortable Israeli casual as Israelis tend to do on a night out, even in top designers. Model Natali Dadon wears a leather jacket and embellished mustard yellow loafers from Diesel with her skinny white pants and black and white striped shirt from Zara, embellished collar from Fashest and yes, that ugly brown bag is vintage.
